Marathon's commitment to safety was demonstrated in the first quarter of 2008 by the achievement of one million project work hours completed without a lost time incident. The construction site infrastructure of roads, security fencing, drains and temporary offices is virtually complete, with more than 2,000 construction workers and support personnel now working on-site. We have driven almost 14,000 piles, poured over 28,000 cubic yards of concrete and erected almost 1,500 tons of structural steel. Delivery of major equipment items and pipe spools has commenced on schedule. The first equipment items have been installed on their foundations, and we have started to load pipe into the main pipe rack. Construction work has also commenced on the new storage tanks, the wastewater treatment unit, the new buildings and the new dock on the Mississippi River. |
