Construction Overview
"We will essentially be building an entirely new refinery at Garyville to leverage the infrastructure already in place," Gary R. Heminger, executive vice president of Marathon Oil Corporation, says of the expansion.
Construction started in March 2007 and will be completed by December 2009. The expansion will include the following new process units:

Crude/ Vacuum Unit - 180,000 bpd
- Coker Unit - 44,000 bpd
- Hydrocracker Unit - 70,000 bpd
- CCR Platformer Unit - 65,000 bpd
- Kerosene Hydrotreater - 47,000 bpd
- Naphtha Hydrotreater - 40,000 bpd
- Sulfur Units - 450 Long Tons Per Day (2 @ 225 ea)
- Saturated Gas Unit - 9,550 bpd
